Sorry you don't like Dragon, they are the best 1/72nd kits. Second best (and IMO its quite a drop off) would be Trumpeter. |

Please check out the Braille scale forum. There are numerous Shermans there and by far the Dragon ones are the most equitable. IMHO, the M4A3E8 is among the best.

First of all, I think this site could prove most useful: http://www.172shermans.com/ I don't personally have experience with Trumpeter's Shermans, but they took some flak for having some issues, the most serious being the angle of the front upper hull plate. Extratech makes a series of Shermans. Link and length tracks, nice details, PE parts for light guards, MG handles etc. I've built the M4A3E2 Jumbo and liked it. While far from limited run kits, they're not Tamigawa shake'n'bake stuff, requiring some care with cleanup and assembly. UM has also some 1:72 Shermans. And of course there's Esci's Sherman, nowadays found in Italeri's catalogue. I've got one in my stash. Quite an amazing kit for it's age. Comes with both rubber band as well as link and length tracks (The M4A1 boxing. According to a review on Missing-Lynx, the "calliope" boxing only has rubber bands) sa and even some hull interior detailing (including the engine). |

If you can find it, Esci made an M4A3 that was a sister kit to their M4A1 that was pretty good. The M4A1 was reissued by Italeri a while back.
Some of the ones to avoid are the Revell/Matchbox/Monogram M4A1(76) and the Hasegawa M4A3E8. Too many errors in either kit.
I have the UM M4(105)HVSS Sherman and it is nice, the Eduard/ExtraTech kits are decent, but pretty pricey. For the cost of one of them originally, you could buy a couple of the Dragon kits. |

I may be mistaken, but I believe that the ESCI/Italeri M4A1 has a later "wet, big hatch hull" which was exceedingly rare with the 75 mm turret. |

Yes, you are correct; the Esci/Italeri M4A1 has the late large hatch hull in an uncommon matching with the 75mm turret. |
