Bandai Y-Wing Starfighter

This is my first spaceship. So, I thought I would give Bandai a try because of all the excellent videos on YouTube. Well this is possibly the best kit I have built.. The parts fit is excellent. the plans are very good. The only thing I do not like is there are no color call-outs and no paint identifications. Well, here a few photo of my start.

Comments and help welcomed.

Primed with Mr. Surfacer 1500.

The bandai kits are amazing and the y wing is an exceptional kit but you will need to take care when assembling the intricate exterior pipe work as they do tend to break very easily

Thank you. Yes, one did break.
Do you know the color of the cockpit canopy?

Had my eye on the Bandai 1/72 Star Wars releases for a while now, but shying away due to lack of funds & time!

Hi Russell,

Not that bad of a price bought mine for $33.00 and free shipping.

This is an excellent kit. Probably the best fitting kit I have assemble to date.

I must say this is really a fun kit.

But, this is it for the week, need to keep pouring kits for this weekends Model Show.

And now an update:

Wow Harry!

very quick build!

It would be nice if the Bandai Star Wars kits were as cheap as that in Australia, but unfortunately, we seem to incur at least another 50% on top!

I built up the Fine Molds kit and one thing stands out as different, and maybe better in the Bandai one.
Other than being available for sale in the US these days..

It looks like the 'swoop' on the nose for markings has panel lines on the Bandai kit. The Fine Molds one has thick decals, that I did not get to settle in as well as I would have liked.

Is there a panel line for the engine pod nose stripes as well?

Hi Russell,
Yes, the kit was quick. It just falls together.
Might try Amazon thatís where I got mine.

Mike,
Might try slicing the decal in the panel lines with an xacto and use some decal setting solution to snug them down.
Is there a panel line for the engine pod nose stripes as well? No.
