Ahem..

oh yes i wanna see that getting built!

now that i have been made into a campaigns admin staff member i will be able to activate this campaign officially when the time comes. i can see already that there are at least ten people who have signed up for the sci-fi 3 campaign already so we're off to a flying start.

i would ask people to to give me some slack as i have never had anything to do with the admin side of things on this site and there are a few things i need to discuss with the Mr Starkweather, particularly the layout of the sci-fi section, which i think needs a bit of a tune up, e.g. we don't have our own campaign section unlike other areas of the site.

Oh yes, that AT-AT would be an awesome build. How big is it when build?

Being the new guy here,i would be interested in a sci-fi campaign
Count me in if you have room for a rookie

Ok folks click the link and sign up!

SciFi Campaign 3

Just checking, SciFi III still not showing up on Campaigns Listings.....

Hmmm.... you are right. It can only be seen by using the link.
Fearless administrator - could it be because the campaign is listed as a kitmaker campaign and not a modelgeek campaign?

The SciFi 3 campaign is listed in the pending approval section which is below the active campaigns.

As far as I can see ModelGeek doesn't have its own campaign section like aeroscale or armorama forum areas, and this an item I have emailed Mr starkweather about today as my first day on the job.

Having seen other campaigns been made 'active' prior to their start time I will try to launch the SciFi 3 campaign sooner once I have discussed it with the person who is running the build.

Hang in there folks, we are moving forward

I'm in, I have quite a lot in the stash to choose from: 2 Federations, 2 Romulans, and 1 Klingon.

Though I suppose if I get ambitious I do have 2 tank kits that I have set aside to kitbash towards making an Emperor Overlord tank from Command and Conquer Generals.

I will probably do a Federation starship because I cannot start until September.

Its 1/144 scale so not really that large. Judging from build videos, I'd say about about 16cm tall. There are also 1/144 scaled kits of various vehicles like at-sts, x-wings, ties.. I might try for a mini dio but I definitely won't be doing Hoth.

Well, fresh back from Wonderfest. There are some mad skills on display
Now i know how much a rookie i am,no place to go but up for me.Seeing work of that caliber is inspiring. However, the pricing can vary greatly on the same items from different vendors.I set out with a plan to come home with the haunabu II,i only saw two there and the pricing was a littler more than i was prepared to pay.I did get the Moebius 925 Creature from the black lagoon for two U.S. Jacksons
Then on the way home we stoped at Scale Reproductions and talked to Martin.Great store, after a visit with Eddie i bought the Polar Lights 5093 Dick Tracy.
So color me addicted

Congrats David on getting the admin spot.

I'm taking more of an interest in the sci-fi side of modeling. I'm not a huge Star Wars or Star Trek fan, but I do enjoy mechs, alternative timelines, what-if vehicles, and post-apoc subjects.

Hopefully stuff will start picking up over here.

I'm an armor/aircraft guy. I never have watched a single episode of Star Trek, or seen any of the movies. Never bought a comic book without Nazis dying at the hands of GIs, and never seen an episode of Gundam anything.

That being said, I enjoy breaking up the "monotony" of regular builds with stuff like this:

Looks like we're going to have a good mix of subjects.

I'll be in with my 1:1 M-41A Pulse Rifle as seen in Aliens.

Know if only someone would issue some quality kits from the Alien movies. A range 1/35 Marines, Xenos and vehicles would sell like hot cakes!

I see what you did there to avoid someone mentioning AEF Designs Aliens kits... you used the word 'quality'.. actually for their stuff it wasn't TERRIBLE, just merely lousy...
They still show up on ebay now and again, go for big $$, and I suspect rarely get built.
In all my years on the internets, I have rarely seen a built up of their stuff.

Here are some photos...

I know Phebus Creations in France made 1/24 (and I think 1/35) Alien Colonial Marines until the owner passed away. The quality and details were pretty good although the scale seemed a bit larger than advertised.

The Phebus Creations website was still up years afterwards with no one manning the store (even though I believe he had an assistant). I just checked and the Phebus Creations website is now gone.

The Aliens Colonial Marines do exist as squat wargaming figures if you look for them, but are not produced as 1/35 scale model figures anymore.

I've seen a few resin figures come up for sale at shows and evilbay. They did look like those AEF figures, but the asking price was always a little higher than I would have paid.
I find resin garage company SF kits can be of mixed quality. Some good stuff but some truly awful stuff and none of it cheap! These days I'd sooner save my hard earned cash and pool it to buy something good like Wingnut Wings!

The reality is that the bug plastic manufacturers won't touch SF (except for the obvious - Trek and Star Wars). It's unfortunate for us but I understand why they would see it as a risk financially.

Who was it that made the vinyl kits in the 80's and early 90's and what happened to them?

Prodos Games do a lot of AvP for their strategy game. The scale is roughly 1/50. The resin stuff is very nice quality, but also expensive.

I am really considering to buy the dropship, but so far I feel the price tag is too heavy.

Remember, if you want fine details you should buy the resin kits as opposed to the plastic figures.

You can see more here AvP Prodos Games

BTW: can anybody help with a ribbon for this campaign? Any good ideas? Obviously "Sci-fi III" should be incorporated in some way.

Khurasan Miniatures makes a 15mm "Aliens APC-like" wargaming vehicle that has nice proportions: "Defense Force Heavy Infantry Combat Vehicle."

Clayton, really cool! Sold!

Could you rescale it in the right file format. Then I will upload it to the campaign page.

U da man! Thanks a lot for your help.

I have started the official tread for the campaign, so let us move the discussion over there.

Looking forward to get started in a couple of weeks
