I tried to do the base the same as in the movie with the two types of marble flooring.
Hope it looks okay???
After the paint dries for a few days, I will put on a coat of X-22 and see how it looks.

Painted the yellow-orange and a coat of gloss black, had a bit of an oops on the upper wing forward fuselage area sanded it back and will give a recoat before attempting the chrome finish.

Parts fit is very good, Rusell.

I bought every chrome paint I could find and will do a test on the Gunze GX2 super black(which BTW is a great paint goes down super smooth, just donít sneeze on it when itís still wet) to see which chrome looks best.

Hi Russell,

Yes, the foils. Over the years, I have made a right mess of them. We just do not get along.

Super excited to see this one finished Harry!

Just watched Phantom Menace again, and still to this day am learning new things about this movie. Not everyone's favorite, but the way it fit's in with George Lucas' other 5 is astounding. Have a look at this ring cycle thesis.

If only George had followed through and delivered The Phantom Menace in episode 2. What a cinematic reveal that would have been...

Hi Russell,

I would like to get this on finished also. Did you start on your kit?
I have spent a lot of time on the base and trying to get a high gloss chrome finish. Now that I have the Mr. Color GX2 this should be possible. Needs to be done for IPMS in March along with the Slave I, as I can not take the Y-Wing again because of the best of show award.
Thank you for the links, I will read them this evening.

Hi Harry! Would love to see your build of Slave 1! Is it the 1/72 finemolds kit (rarer than rocking horse, well, you know) or the 1/144 Bandai? Any chance of a build log or a few pics?

Haven't started my Naboo fighter yet: there's a few in-line on the bench before I get to that one...

Your's is looking great however-can't wait to see how you get on.

Hopefully those links will be of interest: I know I enjoyed reading them as they gave new insights into my favorite movies and got me to watch them all over again (several times in fact )

Had a bit of a problem with the base. Put on a coat of gloss clearcoat and it bubbled-up do not know why. The base coat has been dry for months. So, all is stripped down and back to step one.

Sorry to hear about the bubbling, Harry.

At least the base is a nice flat surface and no detail will be lost in removing the old paint and starting again.

Am sure, you'll have it sorted soon.
