EZ-034 Geno Breaker
The Geno Breaker is an advancement upon the Guylos Empire's EZ-026 Geno Saurer. It was built to counter the threat of the Helic Republic's Blade Liger, having better speed, maneuverability, and weapons than the Geno Saurer.
While initially effective against the Blade Liger, it found itself at a disadvantage yet again against the upgraded Blade Liger AB.

This is from Kotobukiya's Highend Master Model (HMM) series of Zoids kits, which stress detail and pose-ability over the mechanical functions of the Zoids released by Tomy. Like the original Tomy kits, Kotobukiya's offerings are also in 1/72.
The kit is molded in the colors of the standard Geno Breaker with stickers included for markings.
As with Bandai's MG kits, the use of stickers instead of water slide decals is annoying, and I scrapped them for water slide replacements.
I also decided to paint my kit in custom colors-markings to depict a Geno Breaker from a different squadron.
As with all Kotobukiya Zoids, this is a snap kit. This makes for an annoying build as the friction tension to hold a lot of parts together can make for a hassle to assemble. Very tight tolerances that often had me swearing! I glue my snap kits anyway, and in some cases, the wet glue provided the "greasing" for the parts to go together easier, but in many cases.... ugh.... There is also something to be said for over-engineering, and this kit has it in spades.
While some aspects of this model make for better posing, often there are many parts molded separately, that could have been stronger/ easier to assemble, if in one piece. I started to wonder if there was a reason why it's so hard to find actual assembled examples of this kit on the web...
Another bizarre aspect of this kit is the *lack* of pose-ability when it comes to firing the Charged Particle Cannon located in the mouth.
As depicted in the anime, the rear stabilizers come down at the feet, the heat sinks open on the tail, the Geno Breaker straightens out, opens its
mouth wide, and KA-BOOOOOM!
As depicted in the pictures, the stabilizers and heat sinks open, but the kit is incapable of straightening out and opening the mouth as wide as needed.
I did some surgery to the spine and jaw to allow as much of this as possible, but it's still not perfect. So for those who want to depict this
quintessential pose from the anime, beware!
Still, all the blood, sweat, and tears results in a spectacular piece of mecha, but for those planning on an easy build, beware!
Funny, I started on this as a side-project, and months later, was actually finished (having to make another base after the first one warped didn't help. lol).
The Geno Breaker is currently the king of the hill of my mecha, and it will likely take a Mortar Headd (Five Star Stories) to depose it in the wow-factor. I have the HMM kit of the simpler, more elegant Geno Saurer, but considering how much that kit shares in common with this one, and the struggle this one took to build... that Geno Saurer may have to wait!
