Scenery specialist NOCH produces hard foam models simulating stone and masonry for modelers to create their own structures and scenery. Retaining Wall (Stützmauer), item 58066 is one choice, part of the Hard Foam series (Hartschaum-Serie).

Retaining Wall / Stützmauer...
...is a casting made of a hard foam and packed in a heavy plastic bag.

A multidimensional facade models a rough stonework vertical structure, reinforced by buttresses, capped with cut stone. It measures 33 x 12,5 cm / 13 inches x 4.9 (4 59/64th) inches. Modelers can use this for retaining and property walls, to abut arches and portals, and for buildings.

You can cut the material, scribe and distress it for texture, and even heat it for shaping. It is soft enough to pick holes in with a scissor. This foam will also accept solvent based paints.

NOCH advertises it for HO scale, which is 1/87. Obviously, stone structures can be of all sizes of rocks and thus the only limiting factor for scale is a modeler's imagination.

That you may judge the size for your need I show it with an
HO standard 40 foot box car and a 55 ton hopper

1/87 M16 half track, man, and horse

    1/48 - "American O scale" M10 tank destroyer

1/43 - "European O scale" Audi sports car

    1/35 Tiger I tank

    Figures of 1/35, 1/48 and 1/87 - HO

A card label serves as a backdrop, label, and instruction sheet. NOCH prints the limited instructional information in German and English. Other related Hard Foam models are advertised on the back.

Whether you model military or civil non-railroad subjects, or a model railway, I think this Hard Foam model Retaining Wall is a very useful product. It is easy to work with and looks very authentic. It provides a 3-D effect in sturdy light material.

Retaining Wall (Stützmauer) is a quick and effective way to create a buttressed stone work for your layout and diorama. Recommended.
