In the Beginning
Wow where do you start? This book is really a treat for all Sci-Fi Star Wars followers. Between these two hundred glossy heavy stock pages lies the most technological history of all the vehicles and vessels of the George Lucasí early 70ís attack on Star Trek. Anyone who is a Star Wars techno-head will be familiar with the premise of this printing. The intro sets the stage for the timeline of 25 years after the battle of Yavin. (Conflict depicted in Episode IV) Although this seems awkward since there are vehicles included here that did not come to light until the first and second films, of episode one and two. There are items included here from the comic book series as well as the films, so the uninformed may get easily confused. The book gives a laypersons guide to Space Technology and gives some background as to how the world of these craft came to be. It then discusses the major manufactures and gives the icon symbols of each company involved.
Main BodyNext comes eighty-nine entries of Federation and Rebel toys, that we see blaze across the silver screen. The items included are pretty thorough, from druids to battle cruisers, and pulsar craft as well. The illustrations seem to be from the mat boards that were given to the design studios to build the models. All are very colorful, and some have more than one view. All specifications and stats are given for each. An additional sketch gives vital vehicle components of each vessel. These points come in handy when constructing your favorite model.
AppendicesIncluded here are brief descriptions of important battles throughout the Star Wars saga. Then nine pages, of special vehicles that require note. A brief paragraph description of each is included. The last two pages give a scale graph of aircraft hyper drive classification for each of the Star Wars craft.
This publishing does give an in depth look at some of the neat aircraft and gadgets that have been included in the 5 films released so far. The quality of the illustrations is exceptional, and the text is well researched. All entry photos have good color and registration. The text is fluid and concise, yet informative to the person who is not a fan. All in all a good reference for any Star Wars aircraft builder.
