MAN TGA XXL Racing Transporter Semitrailer "Red Bull Racing"

Brochure: Herpa Cars & Trucks 2011 / 05-06
Manufacturer: MAN
Label: Red Bull

The Formula 1 team Red Bull Racing provided the Formula 1 world champion 2010 with Sebastian Vettel. The Herpa miniature model is the current race transporter in the striking team design featuring the prints of all sponsors.

Red Bull Racing is a Formula One racing team based in Milton Keynes, England, which currently holds an Austrian licence[3] and is one of two Formula One teams owned by Austrian beverage company Red Bull, the other being Scuderia Toro Rosso. The team became the 2010 Formula One Constructors' Championship winner in only their sixth year of competition, becoming the first Austrian[1] team to win the title. The team also produced the world champion driver in 2010, Sebastian Vettel. *

MAN TGA XXL Racing Transporter Semitrailer "Red Bull Racing"
I can not find any information about the TGA, when it was introduced, engine type, etc. "XXL" is a long-distance cab.

This model is fully assembled and packed in a light plastic form-fitted tray secured in a light cardboard box with a cellophane display window and opening ends.

I can not find any flaws in the molding nor assembly. The exterior features fine recessed lines for doors and hoods and panels. The chassis is very detailed with the frame, a basic engine bottom and transmission, drive shaft, big fuel tank, exhaust, differential, rear axle, and suspension. The front wheels can be made to steer with Herpa's steering kit.

The windshield and windows are free of distortion. You can see the nice interior.

Each of the wheels have rubber tires and hubcaps.

The trailer is very basic. It is a smooth van with molded detail for the doors and flush storage bins.

Individual clear and tinted lenses simulate the headlights, parking lights, runners, and tail lights.

The windshield wipers are part of the separate black chrome combing around the windshield. The model has slots in the front of the cab doors where the optional separate side view mirrors are inserted. Although the mirrors are delicate, it is a simple process.

Herpa engineered the soft plastic tires to slip over the rims. They display good tread detail.

Inside of the cab is detail almost worth popping the cab off for, with bucket seats, the steering wheel, console, stick shift, and dashboard detailing.

Tip the cab forward to see the nice engine detail!

For the trailer the landing gear retracts and extends.

Livery and Finish
The model and components are molded in color. Red Bull and the racing logos are stamp painted, as are all emblems and markings. These are sharply printed, and not decals. Herpa does not use decals. My poor old eyes need maginfication to read some of the text. The paint is thin, glass-smooth, and mainly opaque.

This MAN TGA XXL is an impressive model with good plastic detail and great finishing. It has a detailed underbody, lenses for lights, and detailed interior which is visible through the clear windows. Printing is incredible. This livery makes an eye-catching model. It will look great on a train layout, a diorama, or even a display shelf. Recommended.
