Cover story of Herpa's DER MASS:STAB 4/2011, the Mercedes-Benz Actros is one of Europe's premier trucks. Currently Herpa lists 347 Actros LH models in their catalog. This model is of a 2008 Actros.

This model is fully assembled except for the separate mirror set. Your Actros is packed in a light plastic form-fitted tray secured in a light cardboard box with a cellophane display window and opening ends. The molding is almost flawless. The exterior of the cab features fine recessed lines for doors and panels. The all-new Euro 5 chassis is detailed with the frame, a basic engine bottom and transmission, battery box, drive shaft, fuel tanks, exhaust, differential, rear axles, and suspension. With a Herpa accessory set the front and second axle can be made to pivot. Each of the wheels have rubber tires and plastic hubcaps. They display good detail.

Topside is a fifth-wheel and the detailed cab.

The windshield and windows are free of distortion and you can see the nice interior.

Kicking the Tires
A lot of detail is packed into this semi-tractor. Clear and tinted lenses are used for the headlights, signals and taillights.

The cab interior is a single molded piece featuring detailed seats, dashboard and console, and a separately applied steering wheel. It is very visible through the large cab windows. The windshield is detailed with wiper blades and black chrome.

Four mirrors can be applied to the cab, a pair of side view mirrors, and two mirrors to reveal the blind areas in front of, and to the right side of, the cab. These are delicate parts on their own sprue. The plastic is slightly flexible. Carefully cut those from the parts tree or you can remove the mounting pegs; carefully fit them into the specific pre-made holes and slots. The mirror that extends to the front of the truck, it is not obvious how to mount it. Perhaps Herpa should provide some mounting instruction in the box or on-line?

The cab tilts forward to expose a diesel engine. The model and components are molded in color and the Mercedes-Benz logo and other features are chromed.

Other emblems and markings are sharply printed, not decals. Herpa does not use decals. This model is available in weiß / white .

Off the Lot
This M-B Actros is an impressive model with plenty of detail. It has a detailed chassis, lenses for lights, a detailed interior which is visible through the clear windows, and the tilting cab to reveal an engine. Recommended.
