Army Identification Signs ( Heereserkennungszeichen )
Item: Z-269
Summary
Roco Minitanks made scores of WWII and post-war tanks, half-tracks, guns, howitzers, softskins, soldier figures, and accessories. This is one of the waterslide decal sets Minitanks printed for their vehicles.
Five different decals sheets are included in set Z-269:
1. Iron Crosses for Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) and Wehrmacht
2. Post-war international tactical signs
3. Yellow/black warning symbols
4. Vehicle license plates; medical evacuation red crosses; vehicle numbers; small tactical triangles
5. White numbers and tactical triangles
Quality
These are older decals printed on relatively thick film. Registration is remarkable for the time, as is opacity.
No placement diagram or informational sheet is provided. This shouldn't be a problem for modelers familiar with the era.
Conclusion
These are well printed decals. The film is thicker than today's standards. Modelers will have to cut specific numbers out as the backing film is not separate, though tactical signs are separate.
If you can find this set, understand that they are old and the carrier film may be yellowed, as they are in my pack. I taped them to a window on sunny days and it helped some, bleaching out most of the yellowing.
Today several companies make modern 1/87 ( HO ) decals for military models. This set has some decals the others don't. They might be useful.
