This is an in-box review of a 1/9th scale figure from warriors of a German General Staff officer in a fur-lined greatcoat standing amid the ruins of a Stalingrad factory.
What You Get
What you get is a big box filled with a 6 inch polyfoam base with various types of rubble molded into it; a big chunk of vertical girder; and about 20 pieces of resin that make up the figure. All parts, with the exception of the base, are cast in the standard tan/yellow resin. For the most part molding is top-notch, even the usual Warrior moulding seams appear to be absent. There are several large modling plugs that need to be removed fromr all the major components (torso, legs, helmet, feet, hands, legs). Most are connected by 4.
In the End
This looks like a winner and it should be for $100. One of the nice things about this kit is it comes as a ready made dio. With a little paint, kitty litter and baking powder you have a pretty convicing scene for the officer. Warriors has included an electrical junction box that goes on the girder as well, taking away the need to do much scene scratchbuilding.
I usually stay away from staff officers, however this figure offered a good chance to build a general in a combat setting. The inclusion of the base and girder will save me days, if not weeks, of work.I look forward to building this guy but have about 7 other projects ahead of him, including the Andrea U-boat conning tower.... (don't even ask the cost of that one)
