The new Mercedes-Benz S-class is a big challenge for the vehicle refiner Brabus. The Herpa miniature model features the typical Brabus color black and current Brabus rims.*

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a series of luxury sedans produced by German automaker Mercedes-Benz, a division of German company Daimler AG. The S-Class has served as the flagship model for Mercedes for over fifty years in its various incarnations. The S-Class has debuted many of the company's latest innovations, including drivetrain technologies, interior features, and safety systems.**

Private Collection Mercedes-Benz S-class Brabus
Brabus was founded in 1977 and refines automobiles to a new level of style and performance. This M-B S-class "Brabus" is one of 1922 Mercedes-Benz models, including 21 S-Class models. It is one of 12 Brabus models amongst 284 Private Collection models.

The model is fully assembled and packed in a light plastic form-fitted tray secured in a light cardboard box with a cellophane display window and opening ends. A holographic Daimler licensing tag is on one end. As a Private Collection model it is mounted in a showcase. The hard clear cover lifts off. You can easily remove the model from the base by loosening the clasps under the base.

I found no flaws in the molding or assembly. The exterior features fine recessed lines for doors, hoods and panels. The tires are rubber or soft plastic. Herpa includes an interior easily seen through distortion-free windows.

Individual clear lenses simulate the headlights, signal lights and tail lights.

On each door is a factory applied side mirror and a rear view mirror is mounted inside on the windshield. All three featured chromed surfaces simulating mirrors. The windshield wipers are part of the separate black chrome combing around the windshield. The model has a chromed grille. Twin wide flat exhausts peak out from under the rear bumper. Recessed door handles are molded into the sides.

Herpa includes a detailed interior complete with a dash and console, shifts, seats, headrests, and steering wheel.

Finely detailed hubs fill in the low profile soft rubber-plastic tires. The tires have no tread detail except for the very edges. Underneath the body is a better-than-basic underframe molded with both recess and relief detail.

The model is glossy black. The paint is thin, glass-smooth, and opaque.

Brabus’ logo is stamp painted on the rear in chrome.

Also smoothly chromed are the Brabus hubs, exhaust ports, trim around the side windows and on the trunk, and the grille. Herpa does not use decals.

For HO modelers of present day layouts, Herpa's "Brabus" Mercedes-Benz S-class is an exceptional model with superior plastic detail and finish. Though it lacks a detailed underbody, the lenses for headlights, signals, and tail lights are impressive. An impressive interior is easy to see. Printing is sharp. Happily Recommended.

Please remember to let vendors and manufacturers know that you saw this model here, on Railroadmodeling.
