Hello,
the last days I cleaned up the parts, that was very time consuming, but so I was able to make the silicone moulds today. That worked very well, I tried out some techniques I found in the net. Now I inserted the first round of resin and am waiting to take it out in about one hour. I think I have to redo the one for the top of the combustion chamber, The first good resin duplicate of it will be cleaned up even more which was no more able with the plastic one. I'll do another update tomorrow.

Cheers, Thorsten

Good evening,
I had good success with casting the resin parts:

The moulds are better than all I made before, and casting went better that expected. The biggest problem are the extremly thin areas at the throat of the nozzle, they are less than 0.4mm thick. I solved that by including one single layer of a paper tissue wich assures that the resin isn't forced away from these areas by the other side of the mould. That worked very well.
The next step are some modifications at the part for the top, this is not clean enough yet and some small bits are still missing (and I've to add another 0.5mm, the part became a bit too low).

Because of the end of the holidays work will go on slower from now, but I hope to get some things done the next weeks.

These copies look very good to me! (also on my dark computer-monitor)
I hope they are stable enough for my poor skills.

Sören,
thank you! I think there won't be any problem at working with them, they have only minor flash and are simply glued together... you can not make any big mistakes ;-)
it'll be a lot easier than my Venera... I promise!

A small update for today:

This weekend I finished reworking of the part for the top of the combustion chamber. I used two resin copies of the original one, cut them into pieces and glued them together as needed. The result is that the new one is about 0.5mm higher and so in the correct dimensions. I also added the four missing mounts for the engine frame, so it's complete now.
In the moment the part rests in the silicone mold which I casted some hours ago.
I'll post some photos the next days when I made the first castings.

Cheers,
Thorsten

I know it's a long time since the last update, but there will be progress soon on this project. All I can say for now is that I started completely from zero again. Pictures will come soon!

Best regards,
Thorsten

Hi Thorsten, thank you for the update!
My builds are stopped, but for my WW2.dio I have new plans.
The "burn-out-syndrome" is not good for modellers.

Why did you started from zero?
