BTW, what other jungle color schemes can you recomend to me? I still have 2 other Gundam kits that I would like to convert. The design is pretty much the same but I want to change some colors. For that sniper, I've used olive green for the body and olive drab for the armor.

Nice looking Gundam there! I like how you got the slight variations in paint color over the model. :-)

Jungle schemes, eh? First, what is the scale on these? Would they walk through the jungle, under the foliage canopy? Or, are they huge, half under and half above the the canopy?

If they were under the canopy, I'd think some dark green base with lots of long vertical streaks of brown. (tree trunks). More green to the top.
If it's half under, half over, I'd try the brown on the lower sections, and variations of green chip patterns topside.

I need to load up Mechwarrior 4 and see what types of camo they had running there. (:-)

Nice stuff.

My biggest issue here would be the lack of markings. Since you said you redid it, I assume the markings got wiped out, right? If you're going to do a few more in ground type schemes (what kits are the other two? Gundam or GM [G] types?) I'd suggest you might want to look at a set of aftermarket decals for them. Tim at Child of Mecha does a bunch of custom Gundam decal sheets, including a nice Feddie ground type sheet Here.

The colors are good for the Sniper, but they do tend to blend everything together - maybe a little work on the edges of the armor might delineate things a bit better? There's also a few spots where the sprue attachment marks are still there (the cockpit hatch, mainly) - they could use some work.


For future camo ideas, Gundam kits often look best with sharp-edged camo patterns, due to their sheer size. The same sort of drab greens work nicely, but maybe you could look into colors with higher contrast between them? Adding in some browns could work, too.

They're 1/100 scale. The GM Sniper in particular is 18 meters tall at the head. So it'd stand a pretty good chance of standing above the trees, depending on the forest it's in at the time.

Thanks! Ok, as far as I know this is 1/100. As I have seen in the movies/shows, it stood tall as a pine tree. On regular trees, it's upperbody is above regular trees. As I have read, it stood 17-18 meters.

Thanks Wraith! Yep, no markings cause I lost the decals sheet over a long time. I think I did the original one 1-2 years ago. As for the decals, I can't put 'em since I rub it all off from the original unit.

My other 2 Gundam kits would be RX-79(G) and RX-79(G) Ez8 (see picture on my website). I would like to make a dio out of them 3.

Ah, the Gundam ground types. Cool. The ground types are always good dio pieces.

A few pointers:

The Sniper would likely be in better condition that the others (the RX series tend to wade in and slug it out, rather than stand back and shoot like the sniper).
The Ez8 should probably be placed to look like the "leader" of the squad since it's a custom unit, likely used by a commander. It's supposed to have tougher armor due to its rebuild (rebuilt from a scrapped RX-79[G]) so it could be in good condition, but it might well be fighting harder than the rest, so it might be pretty banged up despite the improvements.

Also, don't feel you've gotta put them in a deep jungle. They'd basically go anywhere they were needed, so a military base, or urban area, or farmers fields are all viable terrain, too.

Ahhh! Thanks for the info! BTW, I wanted to give it a more military scheme so I've asked for a jungle scheme. I don't like it's RBW colors cause it look toyish. I have a set up for this dio, remember the long cannon the RX-79(G) carries? Both the Sniper and the RX-79(G) would be of a long range while the Ez8 will engage in close combat. Hope I finish this in time before January cause studies will pre-occupy me very bad.
