that's what I'm here for, now I just need to sort out the kit plan to build from my stash.

Too many choices in the stash as well. I'm kind of leaning towards one of Saw Gerrera's Partisans' X-Wings in the black and white scheme at this moment, but will decide once I finish the Auto Modeler GB I'm working on right now.

i have done one of those, well almost, i lost the seat for it and put it back in the box but while i was fixing my router for the computer i found it again, so i might open up that shelf queen and finish her up.
in the mean time here is a small selection of my star wars bandai kits, will probably go with the A-wing and open her up and tinker about with her.

I am on for this one! 🙂
Probably go for some Star Wars kit. Not sure what else I have in the stash, but might go for any Bandai alternatives I can dig out in the stash.

Enlisted and actually started this past weekend.
I figured I'd best ask about something before proceeding. I picked up a Bandai AT-ST in 1/48 scale. The plan is to to kitbash it in to a BattleMech...something along the lines of a Flea in 1/35 scale. Is that okay?
If it's okay, I'll post the starter pics and maybe some progress pics by the end of the week. If not, I'll go with something else.

as long as the majority of the completed work is Bandai then that's ok as far as i am concerned.

Okay thanks. That was my concern. This is a manufacturer based build and I wasn't sure how much OOB it could or should be. I should be good.
I'll post my first update in the next day or two. If any thing seems out of line, let me know and I'll switch to a different Bandai kit.

Howdy Y'all
I don't know if these kits will be acceptable. I've already started building them. I would do all 3 (4?) for the campaign.
The models I've worked on the most were the 1/144 Combat Assault tanks. I painted them with Tamiya's Field Gray because I wanted to experiment for myself if the color was acceptable for Soviet armor. I still have some shading, filters, dry brushing and weathering to complete. I also need to complete the storage containers that go on the back of the tanks.

Next up is a Tie Striker from the U-Wing Fighter kit. I want to use the kit stickers as a mask for the canopy. You can see I have the round canopy primed. Still need to prime the rest of the model and paint, add filters and weathering.

Last but not least is the Blockade Runner. This kit fell together and I had to stop myself. I want to base coat it in black and have fun airbrushing shades of gray. I bought some aftermarket decals on eBay so I won't have to use the kit stickers.

Let me know my plan is acceptable for this campaign.

Take care,
Don "Lakota"

Hi Don,
I think your best bet is the blockade runner as the other kits are assembled and just need a coat of paint.
all the best

@Klaus-Adler – David,
I’ve enlisted to the campaign. Need to get my feet wet again after not building or finishing much of anything in a long while. The time-line works for me, something always seems to creep up to get in the way when you’re having fun! Fighting a head cold and a very strong pink eye that won’t go away. . .

This is the 1:12 scale Bandia Star Wars model kit that I’ve chosen to build for this campaign. Out of the box this kit appears to be a rather easy kit to put together but I will be adding some lighting to the eyes and body, this will be my first attempt to light a kit, let’s see how that goes? I will also be adding and modifying parts of the kit to show an upgraded production model but keeping the changes simple as not to change much of the droids signature appearance. Let me know if that fits the campaign criteria?

Eddy,
that kits the perfect model for this campaign.
if it helps there was a guy on britmodeller who built and put lighting into that very figure so it might be worth checking it out.

I just realized I haven't posted anything on this build yet. This will be a big update.
As mentioned, I'll be building Bandai's 1/48 AT-ST...but I'll be converting it to a 1/35 Light Battlemech influenced by the Flea from BattleTech.

The legs are being built OOB and any changes can be made later. I won't describe the leg assembly so I'll jump ahead with the legs assembled and posed next to a 1/35 figure for size comparison. I hate to do that, but it saves from posting 25-30 assembly pics of a kit that should be pretty familiar on these boards. That said, assembly went well. The fit was nice and instructions top knotch. About all I'll change are the prongy foot extensions and remove alot of those hoses.

Now we get to the cockpit, where the bulk of the work takes place. The body tub looks to be good to changeover to accomodate a larger 1/35 figure. I have to admit that I took a gamble of this being able to work in 1/35 scale. I've been lucky on a few builds and things have worked out.

The idea was to place a seat centrally and use the floorpans as foot areas for the left and right feet. The seat is made from styrene stock. I tried to preserve as much of the interior detail as possible. There's a good bit of instrumentation that can be used. The picture probably illustrates it better than I can describe it.

Painted the interior. Even though I'll be hacking it up, I think it would be easier to prepaint now than later. And believe me, alot of this vanishes.

So now the hacking begins. There was a lot of trial and error to work through these cuts. Being snap-together, it was really easy to test stuff and reassemble as needed. Also, the kit is pretty solid and stood up well to all the cutting. The main goal was to change the profile so it didn't look like a Star Wars AT-ST. To me the flat grasshopper face is the biggest stand-out feature. I cut off the chin. There was a large gap between the body and pelvis to begin with and it looked alot worse with the chin removed. So I cut down the mount so the body sits lower to the pelvis.
Another stand-out detail is the pair of cheek mounts. I decided to move those back. I covered over the cheek areas with sheet styrene.
It still needed something alse to change that profile so I cut back the body front. The windscreen will be right in front of the pilot. A bit of styrene sheets enclosed the "hood" and tidied up things.

I played with the idea of adding "arms" to mount weapons. Ironically, that was one of the reasons to move the cheek mounts back to the sides. The mock-ups didn't look right proportionally. Being a light mech I shifted to a lighter weapons loadout. The guns are 2cm cannons from Tamiya. I had to tweak one so it was mirrored. Rocket pods are a standard for a mech. The original plan was to have two...one on each side. I couldn't find a second one so I worked up a missile pod from stuff in the spares.
Oh yeah...another thing I added was an extension to the rear. The kit is flat with alot of exposed mechanisms. The extension will stretch the body and cover the rear. I still have to cover the lower section.
You cannot really see him, but the pilot is from the spares. I think it's from a Heller LeClerc kit...which is their usual tanker but with a different helmet. I had to adjust his legs and cut down his rear to fit in the cockpit.

It looks the part and I am generally happy with it. I still have to finish the body rear, make the windscreen, and do the base. I'll use the kit base and maybe add a figure or two to show relative size. I'll have to convert some to look all futuristic. And of course the paint...which I'm still debating on.
It should all be wrapped-up in the next update and include the background story.

@Klaus-Adler – David,
Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated. I’m finally getting over a very nasty chest cold that started turning into a serious lung issue, but all is well now and the pink eye is gone. I have not been able to build at all even though I have tried just recently with a small scale tank. I’m fighting the mojo and just managed to submit a review on the kit I have chosen to model for this campaign. I hope this breaks the spell of not modeling. I will be posting some progress pics soon. I was also waiting on some ordered items for the lighting and paint.
David, I have gone over to Britmodeller, to check out the article that you suggested on lighting the K-2SO but have not found it as of yet. Lighting this kit will be a first for me so I hope to learn something new and will share that with all of you.
@Bluestab – Alex,
You’ve really gone the way of fun with your project, creating a 1:35 scale Battlemech from a 48th scale kit. Like what you are doing and thanks for posting all of the pics showing the progress that you’ve made as you go, too cool. Good idea with the backstory, I’ll have to give my build a similar writing.
This campaign is off to a good start with all of the builds to be done here. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s in store.

Looking great Jesper, cannot wait to see more.
Ryan and Alex, the Carolinas with such differing takes on the AT-STs. Cool, keep it up.
I should be starting mine in early April. Leaning towards an A-Wing with a non-canon paint scheme as of right now.

Hi Eddy,
sorry to hear about the chest issue, I can fully sympathise as I have asthma and know how serious it can be.
I will have a look on that other site and see if I can find the build that featured the lighting of the droid from Rogue One

@Klaus-Adler – David,
Well, I’m back. I’m fine now and getting some bench time, hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for the kind words David it is much appreciated. California is now experiencing a ‘Stay at Home’ policy due to the beer-virus.
I’ve begun doing some work on the droid. Drilling and grinding on the chest, torso and left leg for fitting the wiring and LED’s. I’ll post those pictures as I start with that phase of the build. Also I’ve managed to put together the arms and right leg. I’ve left out the clear parts on the joints as the movie version doesn’t have these.

I turned in a review and some photos over a month ago but haven’t seen that posted yet? Wondering what happened to that as I have not heard anything on my end concerning the submitted review?
@Tank1812 – Ryan,
That paint scheme you’re going to go with looks like a winner and you’re making good headway on the AT-AT.
@SGTJKJ – Jesper,
Like the scheme on your T-47’s. Will you be adding any markings and stenciling?
