M60A1 Desert Storm

  • move
The base kit Terry used is the Tamiya M60A1 with reactive armour offering in 1/35th scale. Terry has not mentioned any scratch work being required, but it does look the part and shows that old does not mean useless. The stowage used on this offering is from a number of companies including Tamiya, Academy, and Legend Productions. The model has been painted using Tamiya paints and oils have been used for the weathering.

Wow, I went away for a moment and the argument was on...my mistake if, in fact, no USMC M60s in euro-cam were the first deployed units during Desert Shield. If so, poor info on my part, 'pollogies all around.

Yes, like I said, "USMC M60A1 RISE/Passive tanks were painted mostly in 3-tone NATO camo at the time. A few still wore 4-color MERDC camo, but not overall green. As Terry notes, they were all quickly repainted in desert sand." There is no euro-cam. In the first post you said they were in euro green, again, no such scheme. I think you are talking about the 3-tone NATO camo of forest green, military brown and black. That is what most were painted as, but they didn't come from Germany.

Gino aka The Minister of Mis-information strikes again! I have to let my friends in 3rd MarDiv know that their time in the Saudi sands was a non-event. And let the non existent New Orleans tankers know they were mentioned in dispatches. Brian, sorry about those reading skills. Mike sends . . .

Whatever Mike. If you would actually read what I wrote as opposed to what you want to read, I was talking about the MARDIV HQs locations, not where the tank BNs were located. My point, which you still have not disproved, was that there were no Marine units that deployed from Germany.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think Mike needs to attend a course on emotional intelligence??? Get over yourself.

Anyways, my point was I understood that the first M60s deployed hurriedly at the start of Desert Shield arrived in Three-tone NATO camo and were rather conspicuous until they were repainted a more suitable desert scheme. I did one in that scheme entitled "##!**!!! Sand!" Sorry I mentioned it and all of you can now stop bickering about my faux pas and move on as I pull my boot out of my mouth...
