L'Arsenal is set to release a 1/24 Ranger 8 space probe. "The 1 price is not the sale price! It is about a pre-reservation so that the people who wish it can receive this kit from its release."
L'Arsenal writes...

"The 1 price is not the sale price! It is about a pre-reservation so that the people who wish it can receive this kit from its release.

"The NASA Ranger programme took place between 1961 and 1965 with
the aim of exploring the lunar surface.

"The probes were launched along a direct trajectory to crash on the Moon.
During the last moments before impact, onboard TV cameras took close
shots of the surface which were immediately transmitted to the Earth.

"The aim was to collect as many data as possible on the surface properties
to prepare for the oncoming Apollo Lunar landing program.

"Nine probes were launched with various results:

Ranger 1(06/23/1961) and Ranger 2(11/18/1961), both launch failures

Ranger 3 (01/26/1962): probe failed, Moon missed

Ranger 4 (04/23/1962): probe failed, Moon impact

Ranger 5 (10/18/1962): probe failed, Moon missed

Ranger 6 (01/30/1964): cameras failed, Moon impact

Ranger 7 (07/28/1964), Ranger 8 (02/17/1965) and Ranger 9 (03/21/1965)
all were successfull.

"Ranger 8 crashed in the Sea of Tranquility, the very place where Apollo 11
landed four years later.

"Ranger 8 was 3.6m high and weighted 367kg. Its main hexagonal alu-
minium bus was 1.5m across, which supported two solar panels with a
4.6m span and a large communication antenna.

"Above was the payload conus which hosted six tv cameras.

"Assembled kit: height 136mm, span 189mm"
