EncounterMonster 2 is a new 1/35 resin creature from Armor35. Part of the fantasy range After the Disaster this kit is item ARM35A-02, one of two grotesque freak animal mutants. (The other is item ARM35A-01, a boar-like critter.) Both are available in 1/35 and 1/16.
After the Disaster also features two (at the time of this review) armed women, both titled Girl (Stalker) (reviewed at Historicus Forma). Both are available in 1/35 and 1/16.
The ModelArmor35 packs Monster 2 in their standard small carton decorated with eye-catching apocalyptic colors. The box art is a glossy label of the product, shown both undecorated and painted. Inside the box kit 35A-02 is contained in a zip-lock baggie.
This is a simple two-piece gray resin creature; its tail is separate. Typical of Armor35 parts, both of the pieces are beautifully cast without any flaws - flash, mold seams, air pocks, sink holes.
DetailThis chilling pitiful hideous beast looks like a tormented canid. Its flesh is torn open in areas.
The mouth is full of sculpted teeth and ridges of cartilage along the upper palate. It features excellent sculpting of the claws and paws, and a comb-like ride under the neck, and scales along the back.
Painting and Assembly InstructionsNone. Armor35 molds indents and slots for the parts to fit together. Test-fitting shows this model will go together easily.
For painting one either refers to the boxart or uses one's imagination.
ConclusionMonster 2 is a beautifully cast horrifying creature of a fun disturbing genre. The fidelity of detail is remarkable and casting is excellent. It should be very easy to assemble and paint.
Modelers of science fiction and fantasy subjects should be enthusiastic about this beast. Recommended.
