I've been building models since I was a kid back in the '60s. I did everything imaginable until the mid '80s when I decided to try and get serious about it. Like most of us, I credit the Shep Paine diorama sheets found in Monogram kits for my inspiration. When I made this decision, it was armor all the way. Then around the mid '90s, I met Jim Johnston (formerly of Fort Duquesne Military Miniatures).I had done a few large scale figures by then and his work really inspired me to try doing more. He conducted a few informal figure painting classes and that was the real beginning of my current passion for painting figures. I have no one subject or era that I prefer, just whatever strikes my fancy. But I do prefer painting busts and larger scale figures (it's easier on my eyes :) ).
